A computerised library management system is an application designed to automate and manage the major activities of a library, such as acquisition, cataloguing, circulation, membership, searching, serial control and report generation. For effective implementation, the system should satisfy both system requirements and functional requirements. System requirements refer to the hardware, software, network and other technical resources needed to install and operate the computerised library management system efficiently. The hardware requirement generally includes computers or workstations for librarians and users, a suitable server for storing and processing library data, adequate hard disk or solid-state storage, sufficient RAM and appropriate input and output devices.
