Resource sharing in public library systems refers to the cooperative practice through which libraries share their collections, services, facilities, technology, expertise, and other resources to satisfy the information needs of their users. No single public library can acquire and preserve every document or provide every specialized service required by its community. Resource sharing therefore enables libraries to make a wider range of information resources available without bearing the entire cost individually.
