From the perspective of gender sensitization and society, environmental pollution affects different groups of people differently because women, children, and marginalized communities often experience greater exposure and vulnerability due to social and economic inequalities. Pollutants are broadly classified into primary and secondary pollutants based on their origin and formation process. Primary pollutants are those pollutants that are directly released into the environment from natural or human-made sources. They enter the air, water, or soil in their original form. Common examples of primary pollutants include carbon monoxide (CO), sulphur dioxide (SO₂), nitrogen oxides (NO), particulate matter, smoke, dust, and industrial chemicals. These pollutants are mainly produced through activities such as vehicle emissions, burning of fossil fuels, industrial processes, agricultural practices, and waste disposal. For example,
