Art has always been an important means of human expression, communication and understanding. In the context of education, art is not merely an activity for entertainment or recreation; it is a powerful medium through which learners develop their intellectual, emotional, social, cultural and aesthetic capacities. Art education enables students to observe, imagine, create, interpret and appreciate the world around them. From the perspective of aesthetics and art education, art contributes to the holistic development of the learner by cultivating sensitivity towards beauty, harmony, creativity and human experience. Art in education refers to the systematic use of different artistic forms and experiences as part of the learning process. These forms include drawing, painting, sculpture, music, dance, drama, theatre, craft, photography, storytelling and other creative practices. Art may be taught as an independent subject, but it can also be integrated with other areas of the curriculum. For example, students can learn history through paintings and monuments, science through models and visual representations, mathematics through patterns and geometric designs, and language through poetry, drama and storytelling. Thus, art can make education more meaningful, experiential and engaging. Aesthetic education is closely connected with art education. Aesthetics deals with the nature of beauty, artistic experience, taste, perception and appreciation. They learn to recognize balance, rhythm, proportion, harmony, contrast, expression and creativity. Such experiences develop sensitivity and refinement in everyday life. One of the most important contributions of art to education is the development of creativity. Conventional education sometimes places greater emphasis on memorization and reproduction of information. Art provides opportunities for learners to think independently and produce original ideas. When a child is asked to create a painting, compose a rhythm, enact a scene or design an object, there may not be a single correct answer. The learner has the freedom to experiment, make choices and express personal ideas. This freedom strengthens imagination, originality, problem-solving ability and confidence. Art also supports the emotional development of children. Learners often experience emotions that they may find difficult to express through ordinary language. Artistic activities provide a safe and constructive means of
