In developing a payroll application, algorithm, flowchart, program, and programming language are closely related and each performs a specific role. An algorithm is a finite and logically arranged sequence of steps used to solve a particular problem. It provides the basic plan for developing software. For a payroll application, the algorithm can describe how an employee’s salary will be calculated. For example, the steps may be: enter employee details, enter basic salary, calculate allowances, calculate gross salary, calculate deductions, calculate net salary, and display the salary statement. If basic salary is ₹30,000, allowances are ₹5,000 and deductions are ₹3,000, the algorithm calculates gross salary as ₹35,000 and net salary as ₹32,000. Thus,
