Shelf arrangement of documents is a fundamental aspect of library management, particularly in the context of informetrics and scientometrics, where the organization of knowledge resources directly affects information retrieval, accessibility, and usage patterns. Despite the existence of well-established classification systems such as Dewey Decimal Classification (DDC), Universal Decimal Classification (UDC), and Library of Congress Classification (LCC), libraries often face several practical and conceptual problems in maintaining an effective shelf arrangement. One major problem is the rapid growth of information and publications. The exponential increase in scientific literature, journals, and digital print resources creates pressure on physical shelf space, leading to overcrowding and frequent rearrangement. This disrupts the systematic order and makes it difficult for users to locate documents efficiently.
