IGNOU Query
Are there any restrictions on accessing the central library or regional libraries?

There are some restrictions on accessing IGNOU's central and regional centre libraries:
1. Only registered students can access the libraries. Walk-ins are not allowed.
2. Students need to carry their valid IGNOU identity card and show it at the library entrance for verification.
3. Timing - The library timings vary for different regional centres. Generally, they are open from 10 AM to 5 PM on all working days.
4. Reference material - Students can access reference books, journals, periodicals, etc available in the library for reading and reference.
5. Borrowing books - Students can borrow books for a limited period, usually 1-2 weeks. A security deposit is required for the same.
6. Renewing books - Borrowed books can be renewed if not reserved by other students. However, there is a limit on the total renewal period.
7. Returning books - Students need to return borrowed books on time to avoid fines. Late return may lead to blocking of library facilities.
8. Silence to be maintained - Proper decorum and silence need to be followed inside the library. Disturbances are not permitted.
9. Usage of personal gadgets - The use of personal mobile phones and audio players is usually not allowed inside libraries.
10. Food and beverages - Eating and drinking is not permitted inside libraries to maintain hygiene.
So in summary, while IGNOU students have access to libraries for reference and borrowing books, there are several guidelines to be followed regarding identity verification, timings, book returns, discipline etc. following which library facilities may be withdrawn. Hope this helps! Let me know if you have any other doubts.
